Solid Timber Parqetry…

The most common type of solid timber parquetry block is 260x65mm or the slightly larger 340x85mm dimension. The 4 to 1 ratio of these bock sizes are ideal for creating patterns such as;

– square block
– herring bone or double herring bone
– basket weave
– brick block

For a truly high-end floor, the new 600x120mm Grande Block parquetry will add real “wow factor” to any home. Available in classic Australian species of Blackbutt, Spotted Gum and Brushbox, this timber not only looks outstanding but the harder Australian species wear much better than typical oak parquetry floors.

Mosaic parquetry (sometimes known as finger parquetry) is a less expensive product that was traditionally installed in a square block fashion generally with each bock containing 5 to 6 fingers of timber. This is a very good option for larger areas such as dance floors or community centres. In recent times this product has reduced in availability due to higher manufacturing costs.

At the more complex end of parquetry patterns are intricate designs that originate in Europe. These designs tend to be installed using oak timbers that are carefully cut to exacting sizes to meet the requirements of the pattern. Designs that fit in this category include Chevron, Versailles, Monticello and Chantilly.

The opportunities for parquetry flooring are endless. Planet Bosch (then Bosch Timber Floors) was proud to win the ATFA commercial floor of the year (2014) with an intricate parquetry floor that was created and installed by one of our preferred installers Rick Pagnacco of Wicked Wood Floors.

If you have a special project that needs a touch of flair set up a meeting with us and we can go through the detail with you to create a floor that works with the style of your project.
