Colour – Photos and samples provide indicative colour tones but at times floors of the same species can differ in both colour and appearance, so you want to be aware of each aspect.
Waterborne coatings for natural tones with less yellowing
Grade – Impacts the floor appearance, cleaner grades such as “select” or “standard & better” minimise the amount of naturally occurring features in the timber, other grades such as “feature” allow a greater proportion of the timber’s character within the floor for a rustic appeal.

Board Width – Wider boards are more popular in creating an open feel to a space, but they can be more susceptible to movement when temperature and humidity change. Our procedures and strict quality control limits potential movement however, in some conditions this cannot be completely prevented making standard width boards more suitable in some circumstances.

Coating System – Different coatings change the appearance of a timber floor dramatically. There are notable differences between solvent based and waterborne polyurethanes as well as Hard Wax Oils. Make sure you know how the coating system you choose will present.
